Tokens Of Valor - What Are They?

Greetings,
I am pleased to announce a new part of our ranking system. They are known as Tokens of Valor. They are given to members on or above the rank of Freiceadan. What are they you ask? Let me walk you through how to use them.

Token of Valor
A token of approval given to a leader who acts and displays Honor and Integrity. They lead family events with compassion and a calm stature and provide a clear communication channel to all participants. These tokens are only to be given to members that you feel, make the Gaiscioch a better family. Additional qualities that may earn these tokens are: Kindness, Patience, Compassion, and Selflessness. They can see past now, and recognize the results of their actions and the impact they have on the future. Members who go out of their way to help their family are eligible for this token of respect. Only members of lower rank that the person receiving the Token will be able to award a token. So a Saighdear must receive a token from a Freiceadan or below ranked member.

What Are They Used For?
Without these tokens a member can not progress past the rank of Gaisgeach. Members must learn to place others above themselves to obtain these tokens. The transition from thinking solely about "Me", into thinking more about "We" is rewarded through these marks. By collecting these tokens a member can continue his journey through the ranks.

When Should I Give A Token?
If you feel a member has displayed exceptional leadership ability feel free to award them a token. This is basically your approval of this person becoming a family elder.

The Process
By clicking on the Give Token icon you will go to their profile page to the "Family Member Response" section. You can leave some feedback if you like or just check the "Give Token" checkbox and hit submit.

I am pleased to announce that the system is now in place. You can give members tokens 1 of two ways.

A: Click the Give Token of Valor Link on the Fellowship Console.

B: Visit their profile and click Give Token Of Valor

Be sure that you feel that this person has earned your loyalty and support before giving a Token. It is your official recommendation of the person whom you give to become a leader of this family.

Your a Saighdear :). Which means that you wont be able to give them. Only the bottom 4 ranks (technically 3 because the last rank isn't registered to the site) can give Tokens. This is to prevent leaders from feeding leaders and ensures that L33tism doesn't plague our family.

After some discussion, I have decided to alter who can give these tokens to include ANYONE lower ranked that the person receiving the token. Thus keeping the idea of having the support and respect of people lower ranked you will be required to move forward through the ranks. So If a Lorgair wants to give a token to a Saighdear they can but if a Saighdear wants to give a token to a Lorgair they cant. Also a Lorgair cant give a Token to a Lorgair.

Well.. here is to hoping enough people can realize that they have to find and click through to a persons profile to give them a token. Prior to receiving the capability to input into the easy to use leadership console it is going to be a slow time coming. Unless the younger members start coming to this site and participating more.

Maybe the older leaders could nominate followers of the lower ranks on elements of appreciation. Not giving a token but giving a call out as such making it a bit easier to hand out your appreciation token to an excellent performer.

-on an aside- I could just be overly worried that there don't seem to be many led events besides the scheduled ones, and there doesn't seem to be crazy interaction on this site from the lower ranks. Though everyone could just be lurking. -shrug-

You can give tokens through the Fellowship console. That's the easiest way. But it takes actually leading events to get the tokens. As we move forward I will be adding additional areas to give tokens.

Regarding events, up till this last month our Saighdear list has been rather short. The good news is over the last 4 weeks we've added 6 new saighdears. Its just a matter of giving them enough time to figure out the system. Hang in there my friend things are going to get exciting here soon. Were making a major push to get people up to tier 4 so we can launch our tier 4 campaign. If your looking to get the the Saighdear rank go ahead and start adding events to the guild calendar. Its a great way to get known. Having power is not the same as earning power. Getting the family to follow you takes putting yourself in front of them, making yourself available, and making sure that their experience when your around is a good one. You make people happy, excited, or proud and they will cast their loyalty upon you. Thus teaching them companionship and thus teaching you leadership. It's all part of the transition from follower to leader.

BTW I have made it a bit easier to award these. Simply click on one of the Give Token of Valor or Token of Valor icons and a mini window will pop up for you award the user a token. It will also give you an explanation of when to award them.

Bump. Be sure to give tokens when you think your warband leader has done an excellent job. The Leadership of the family requires the approval of the tribe.

Bumping for the new folk!

Tokens of Valor are a great way to show who are our great leaders, and what leaders still need to improve a lot (like myself, hehehe). If you didn't read this thread yet, please do so now.

Blessed Be.

Eirean, the Masked Lady
Seabhrán, the Archer
Lillandera, the Furnace of the Unspeakable Pains
Delianath, the Young Blade

In Lord of the Rings Online, look for Seabhran (from Warboud Kinship) in Elendilmir.

Jokes aside, bumping for the newcomers to our family to get acquinted with the tokes system.
Before someone complains, no, i don't care about my rank. If someone wants to give me a token, thank you, if not, thank you anyway.
Given i'm going to be absent from WAHammer except for trinity night, and even them, only if time alows (3 hours difference to EST makes attending any event a major PITA)

Hey Ben, any chance of making this post a sticky on the hot topics, so we don't have to keep giving it periodic bumps for the new members of the family?
