Re: [Poll] LIVE Unofficial RP Server (NA)

Postby Aeternis on Wed Sep 09, 2009 6:46 pm

Lumiel also is a popular choice among the warhammer RP community. Many of them are voting separately here, but the WAR poll numbers so far are:

Nezekan: 40%
Lumiel: 50%
Zikel: 3%
Trinel: 4%

--------------------

Seems a lot are chosing Lumiel. I bet this server would have a good population of Elyos to fight against, and I can't see too many 'undesirable' players picking a server name that is 'pretty'. Don't quote me on that, but we should prolly start researching on what Aion Server we want. Unofficial RP server would be best (For the naming policy), but not if it's on Siel or Israphel. What do you all think? What have you heard from Phoenix Throne/RP communities?

Also, aside from having to decide on our MAIN (Asmodian) server, we should also pick an Elyos server. After all, a few months from now we may want to run an 'Elyos Event Night' once a week just to play as a group over there, in enemy territory. >:) No sense on all of us creating Elyos Alts on different servers.

I vote that Foghladha gets the final decision, after we have all input our choices (and why). :)

NA 01) Siel
NA 02) Israphel
NA 03) Nezekan
NA 04) Zikel
NA 05) Vaizel
NA 06) Triniel
NA 07) Kaisinel
NA 08) Lumiel
NA 09) Yustiel
NA 10) Marchutan

I'm staying away from Siel and Israphel like they have the plague and Reports are that Nezekan and Triniel are unfavorable. I also get bad vibes just from the names of the Zikel and Vaizel servers. But this is all speculation.

That alone knocks out half the list for me, leaving:
-Lumiel-, Yustiel, Kaisinel, and Marchutan.
(but open still for other's thoughts of course. :) )

PRO Lumiel Post: I liked some of his reasons, the #1 being my favorite reason.

Re: [Poll] LIVE Unofficial RP Server (NA) Restart

Postby Labyrinth on Thu Sep 10, 2009 11:37 am

Lumiel for the win. I've been hoping Lumiel would be a server in the launch lineup and hope has been rewarded.

Reasons:

1) Lumiel is a fruity name. As a fruit, I think I'm qualified to say this. It sounds like the name of a Disney character, for nyerk's sake. From my perspective, that's a feature. It seems to me that the average internet nyerkwad will be less likely to roll on a server with a fruity name. It doesn't fit the "I'm so nyerking awesome" mindset. Less nyerkwads = Win.

2) For those who've played the game and thus know anything about the lore, Lumiel or Markutan (Wisdom or Fate) would be the obvious choices for a roleplaying server. Kaithiel, or Yustiel (Illusion or Life) would be distant seconds. As an activity, roleplaying doesn't say "Death," "Destruction," or "Justice" to me---Triniel, Zikel, and Nezakan. To me, those read as "Awesome Griefers." This is subjective, I understand, but nonetheless, less awesome griefers = Win.

3) I'm not surprised that Lumiel seems to have a comparatively low OB population. No one knew if it was going to be a choice until OB was actually live only five-ish days ago. We had a pretty huge CB population, from my perspective. Of course the servers that existed during CB are going to have inflated populations. Let's not forget, however, that there will invariably be a horde of players come launch who are getting in on the action. Worrying about the launch server population based on numbers right now is paranoia at best and outright panicking at worst. We shouldn't make this decision based on anxiety. There will be plenty of players on each of the servers by the end of the first month.

4) The fact that Lumiel has a comparatively small server population right now is an incredible opportunity. The fewer experienced non-roleplayers that are playing on Lumiel at launch, the better the chances for us, the roleplayers, to establish a mature, welcoming community from the very beginning. Good game mechanics and a pretty world will make a game appealing for a little while, but it's the community that'll make it stick like glue. New players will, more often than not, follow the example set by the more experienced players. Speaking from experience, that's the way an awesome community gets made. The seeds of it have to be there at the start. Lumiel is prime soil for planting. Opportunity for mature, friendly community = Win!

That's why, from my perspective, Lumiel is the obvious choice. Timezone doesn't matter, as has been pointed out up thread. And even if it did, the fact that it's an East Coast server and thus is the most central to both West Coasters and European folks playing NA is a good thing.

Pulitzer, what about you and your friends? Have you given thought to the matter? Can they handle a 'soft' name like Lumiel? I also like the server names, Kaisinel and Marchutan respectively. They seem nice -and- strong.

OKAY I'M DOWN TO THREE SERVERS FOR MY PICK:
Lumiel, Kaisinel and Marchutan.

I promise to shut it now and let others speak their minds. :) Sworry.

Also keep in mind if we go east coast almost all of our west coast people will never be able to play in one of those 6pm Fortress raids they talk about. Being thats 3pm and we do have to work. If it's at 6pm PST thats 9pm EST which people can and will stay up for. I would recommend keeping us west coast based as we have been for quite some time. Being on a east coast server would bring a lot of east coasters which would want to raid earlier and Im sorry but I can't lead raids at 3pm my time. You'd have to roll without me.

Nyerk - now added to my vocabulary.

Lumiel works for me, because like the person who posted the poll and reasons, I too, am a fruit. (Yes, I just outed myself for real. If it offends, I'll keep it to myself.) I actually think I have an alt created on that server for OB, and it was pretty calm the one or two times I played on there. Which, of course, can very well change at launch.

Plus, the fact that the word means "Wisdom" just appeals to my inner Athena. or geek. One of the two. *grin*

@Ainwe - We are not sure either.

Everyone is loving it and decided to play asmodian. Since they are perfect mirrors there is no reason to roll Elyos in another server. The land of Elyos I will know by heart after my 100th rift!! =)

I'll keep track of where you guys go and will force my friends to follow me there. We'll have our own legion, but allied to Gaisciochi is possible.

STAY AWAY OF SIEL. It's the unofficial brazilian server. Those brazilians are worse than the plague, believe me. I know this much - I'm not going close to there.

Cheers!

Foghladha All the servers are physically located on the east coast, but the ones with the West tag have the internal clocks rolled back three hours. There's no reason we need the Server tagged West, as we'd still be raiding at the same times we are now, around 6:30-7pm PST and 9:30-10pm Eastern. Where the ingame clock is doesn't really matter. :)

...Oh and the Day/Night cycle occurs in a drastically shorter amount of time than the cycle of real time, so neither the people in the PST or EST are made to play in the dark. Okay War didn't have a daytime and nighttime, it was just gloomy and smokey all the time (WTB sunshine). I'm thinking more of like when I played ~cough cough~ Another MMO and my playtimes always coincided with the game world always being Nighttime and starry. Dunno about you, but during our northern winters, I could go for some brightness in my artificial sky. :) Rabble Rabble Rabble. <3

Ainwe,

I was refering to:

"The servers are aligned to those time zones (e.g. affecting fortresses) so that players on the East Coast as well as those on the West Coast can have blocks of game time to play during each server's prime time."

They will have Server wide events that take place at a certain Server Time IE this fortress raid happens at 6PM aka 3PM PST if its on a east coast server. This means that Don & I would never be able to take place in any of those GM run events. By taking an east coast server you cut off the whole west coast. Its the scripted events im referring too. My raids can be whenever but i cant phone up the CSR and say yo can you guys roll back that event for 3 hours so i can play?. Thats why they have West coast and east coast servers. If we go east coast server us west coasters will be at work while all the fun stuff is going on.

I put my vote to Lumiel, it sounds like the ideal choice, unless it's an east coast server, in which case I certainly cant be bothered to go back and read the previous posts to confirm that. :P

Also, STAY AWAY FROM THE BR! (That's Brazilian for Brazilian) The entire Internet will back me up on this. Let me put it this way: If they're a good Brazilian player, you won't know they're brazilian.

All doomsaying aside, I'm sure Ben will find the right place. Here's to the future of the guild, wherever we may find ourselves.

@Orgoch - Totally agree. Good brazilian players NEVER talk in portuguese in region chat, pug groups or whatever. Only on group or guild chat if it's all BR.

But man... we have forums over here that coordinate which server to play. They totally swarm both sides of the chosen one. I know that @WOW they're at WARSONG, @WAR they are at VOLKMAR.

So, stay away from Siel! I know I will, lol. =P

But maybe they change for an east coast server now.
I will keep you guys informed.

ps. orgoch, are you brazilian or just got br-swarmed before? lol.

Why are all the West coast names masculine and all the east coast feminine? Odd. Well, Zikel (West) is second in the running at the moment with 51 votes, Lumiel with 109. (Total 190 votes)
http://aionroleplayers.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1372

Also, NCsoft is going to have a offical poll to help us chose an UNofficial RP server. I assume the community from Aionroleplayers.com will vote for Lumiel there, but we'll see! :) I'd like to stay where the RPers go (In the hopes later on NCsoft will tag it RP and enforce better policies there), but I also must stay with our family. <3

~waits for the NCsoft poll~ When are they gonna do that...!? Get on it!

If it's 5-7 I will have to play in a west server.
If it's 8-10 I will have to play at a east server.

But if it's 5-7 fog will not be able to lead raids.
If it's 8-10 I will not play in the same server.

I got screwed!

Don't worry guys. There are NO specific time slots for fortress raids, that misinformation was researched and happily corrected. Even during the beta you can see that the forts become available for capture all throughout the day. Aion will be like WAR and WoW in the fact that the ingame events, like holidays and the like, are over a period of days, not hours. This was confirmed via the boards by Aion Players in other countries. So either a west or east coast server will work, whatever we decide on. Don't worry, no one is getting screwed. :) <3 We just have to be sure to plan OUR events at the same times we usually do to ensure we can all make it.

I really don't care where we go, just please update the decision because I just got a message that a few of my most amazing gaming friends are joining me in Aion and I want to let them know where we will be so they can join the family.

If Ben has already done the work to sync us with Tirinel or whatever it is called then I vote we go there. If NCSoft is not going to give us an official RP server then there's no name enforcement anyway *shrugs*

Now I need to get back to the beach :P See you guys by next weekend - I will be a bit busy this week when I get back taking care of some personal business but I will be checking the forums so I can communicate with my buds.

I miss you guys!!!!
