I came back from my 5 day trip to pick up my daughter to have the gpu fan die and freak out my MB, no sound came out for 2 days. Finally managed to fix it yesterday. Hard to lead a raid with no sound lol. Anyways wanted to let you know im back and whatever we end up doing tonight i need some axe on forehead therapy. There will be dead destro tonight.

Let us release our troubles and stresses upon the faceless disgust creatures of Destruction. Bring on the moldy colored greenskins and dark elves.

Think I am ready to raid?

I know what you mean, I have not been on much in the last month, and have not been on a raid. I am itching to put my Ironbreakers hammer upside some destro heads, and show them the meaning of a shield slam!

Well those were some fun times, I must say that even though we never hit full trinity and went up against 3+ warbands, we never actually lost a fight. We attacked tower and held it down until capture, suicided and moved to tavern, took it and manage to hold it while a sea of red hit. Then suicided our way to Gnol Baraz and took it even though about a warband and a half made it inside last minute. A long fight and one that we managed to overcome the wave of destro that hit as we took the overlook. Then we moved to Wells and yet again hit destro and by dropping from the roof to floor 2 and then attacking the lord room from all sides managed to wipe out the destro and take the keep. Through some of the most challenging fights we've had in the recent months I think we did wonderfully. Thanks Grego, Blockhead and Moredun for running the Trinity last night. Having the dedicated ranged group is awesome. Oil never stands a chance now. Just want to thank everyone that showed up.

Fog.

P.S. Major changes to the site. What you think? We now can see all alliance members.

Ok, let me start saying that I had tons of fun Tuesday. But at the same time I got kinda frustrated.

What if we stoped chasing empty castles and BOs and actually fought that zerg? Not hold untill suiciding. Actually fought them with tactics, flanking, coordinated kitting, overexteding their zerg, etc?

When we hold the zerg at tower... What if we went upstairs and told the other warbands to come and get them from behind instead of telling them to go take tavern? We could had a major victory instead of "Ok, we capped it, go suicide and let's prepare to hold tavern. Ok, we got it, lets suicide and go take Wells".

Just my 2c.

Thanks for the feedback Pulitzer. There's something you should know about what I do an why. When I leads raids my #1 objective is to make the world blue. By doing so this usually makes destruction's zerg break into multiple more manageable chunks. Once the world is blue I now have a radar. I know exactly when destruction is at all times by what they ping. This allows for the tactical assaults. One thing I will never do, Is knowingly subject my warbands to a defeat. If the enemy outnumbers us like they did Tuesday I will speedtake, defend then move to next target. For a zerg to be that big and still loose ground is demoralizing. They start loosing destro. By the time they counter us they've shrunken by 25%. Every time you defeat them you can expect 15% of their force to call it quits. Beat them twice in a row and they will loose half their force. The same is true for us. Now Tuesday I had 1 full warband two 2 party warbands vs that mass that was at least 72 players. They were up on us by a warband hit us at tower when we were split. If i was to smash our head repeatedly against that force I'd loose the people we had. Instead I chose to make a bad situation victorious by holding then capping yet another and holding. This way the loss was not seen as a loss but a major victory. One thing that is so very often overlooked is the moral of troops. This is the one thing I focus on keeping high. Some people say I avoid fights, but those that have been with me a long time have seen huge fights and huge victories, Dok Karaz comes to mind. I simply choose when, where, and how we engage. I never attack where they expect it and I never defend where they expect a defense. The best defense is a strategic offense and the best offense is a tactical defense. Ambushes, Flanking, and Unconventional Assaults are what I do best, however I will not subject my troops to a totally pitched battle knowingly. Thanks again for the comments Pulitzer and I hope I've shared a little about how and why I do what I do. Trying to figure me out is sometimes difficult. I know because I have to live with me. LOL :D

Good explanation Fog, I was going to answer by saying sometimes the fight leading the Warband isn't just about killing destro but also about keeping the people following your banner. As people are fickle the hardest part is getting the right number of people following and listening to make the opportunity available to find fight and defeat destro on the appropriate battleground.

'A clever general, therefore, avoids an army when its spirit is keen, but attacks it when it is sluggish and inclined to return. This is the art of studying moods.'--Sun Tzu

If you have made everyone happy with success in small victories they are more likely to follow you through large battles and sometimes even stick through a defeat.

When outnumbered, demoralizing the opposing force to cause attrition via DC/idleness is an effective method instead of fighting with an uncertain [in skill/trust] force against a larger zerg, as the smaller force needs a observant force willing to trust the leader to call out commands and take down the key targets to win. Without the trust the zerg can roll causing a CRAZY morale hit on friendly forces, which then makes a win more difficult as your small force just got smaller. A self-defeating cycle.

'Reduce the hostile chiefs by inflicting damage on them; and make trouble for them, and keep them constantly engaged; hold out specious allurements, and make them rush to any given point.' --Sun Tzu

Capture enough different locations then you split the zerg into manageable chunks and end up with a easier fight on your hands. Another success that increases the willingness of others to follow you to even more victories. Greater danger with an ear for order and a greater chance for victory. Splitting the enemy is the surest way to ensure success and when the battle is joined the true purpose is to win.

'Numerical weakness comes from having to prepare against possible attacks; numerical strength, from compelling our adversary to make these preparations against us.' --Sun Tzu

@Fog:

Yes, I knew all that, don't worry. We had nothing but victories that night. I know you play smart using awesome strategy - and is very sucessfull at that. I admire your leadership skills... I mean, I can barelly handle ONE group (I do better when I can shout orders in brazilian-portuguese thought, lol).

But you know, fighting against the odds and winning with amazing coordination is what make battles feel epic. Alexander, the Great style. hehehe.

Cheers!
