Our Family History

The Gaiscíoch na Anu (Warriors of Anu) Hear This Phrase Family began as a Dark Age of Camelot guild on the Nimue server on August 10th, 2002 to create a light to moderate role-play environment for players of all levels. With their roots firmly attached to ancient Celtic mythology, the Gaiscíoch na Anu held honor, respect, integrity, and fellowship, over hierarchy and dictatorship. Today the Gaiscíoch span across many games in a wide variety of genres. It is our hopes that through gaming we can forge new friendships.

"Gaiscíoch" Hear This Phrase (sounds like Gosh-kia)

To find the meaning of this word "Gaiscíoch" you must travel back to ancient Ireland. Roughly 1000-1200 B.C. Ireland was occupied by 3 tribes, The Milesius who were descendants from Spain, The Firbolg which were sea rovers from Africa, and the Tuatha De Dannan who's origin is still unknown. The Milesius came to Ireland to find a very civilized society known as the Tuatha De Dannan or People of Anu. Now some of the speculation around them these days may suggest that the Tuatha were actually better known as Atlantians. Recent studies show that the mysterious Atlantis that sank into the ocean was actually Ireland after a huge tidal wave submerged the island under water destroying the entire civilization. By the Milasius and the Firbolg they were thought of as Gods.

The Firbolg were very proud people and decided that they would challenge the Tuatha to a Battle. One like this world has never seen. Each side chose 300 of their best warriors to fight in this battle. Each side shared their technology, techniques, and weaponry with the other and the 2 sides had a feast together the night before the battle. The warriors that were chosen to fight for the Tuatha were called Gaiscíoch; or more literally Divine Warrior. When the horns blew and the 600 warriors clashed and when the battle was over the only that remain standing were the Gaiscíoch. They had defeated the Firbolg. Now oddly enough after the battle the 2 clans embraced each other like brothers and joined together as one nation. It wasn't until the Milesius attack that the Tuatha would ever fall.
